How I've led a cultural shift in my karting community.
There are two main types of people in the karting community; nice ones who would give you parts off their kart and not-so-nice ones who would sabotage you under the guise of helping. I'm happy to say most are friendly people looking to enjoy racing—drivers sharing tips and techniques used to be the exception rather than the rule in Pit Lane. At first, it wasn't easy to get reliable help from anyone, much less my direct competitors, but my ongoing and enthusiastic approach to learning, winning, and then sharing what I know has led to a cultural shift in the community. What used to be a collection of tiny cliques of secretive drivers jealously guarding their knowledge is now a healthy community where everyone helps anyone to go faster and cheers on the winners.
